Bed Wetting

Question:

There is a group in Coos Bay Oregon that has a wetness alarm that works well and they have an ongoing support line.  They charge about $100.  We tried it with my daughter and it just made her hysterical.  She complained it woke her up and terrified her.  We also had the same experience, as below, of coming in her room one night and finding she had vomited all over her bed and the floor and didn’t wake up as we cleaned it all up.  We gave up and in the morning just put her in the bathtub.   Some kids are just extremely sound sleepers, which is why they wet at night.  We just put Goodnites on her and let her sleep, age 6, and hope she’ll outgrow it or be willing to use the alarm eventually. We contactd them a few years ago concerning our son. A salesman came out to tell us what they do and how much, etc. (We could have saved him the trip if he’d told us how much over the phone!) What we finally did was buy a wetness alarm from JcPenney catalog for about $60. Within a week, our son was "cured." (This was 3 years ago when he was 6.) He occasionaly "leaks" a little bit, but he doesn’t soak the bed as he used to. We’re getting ready to try it on our 4 year old, now that he’s finally going to sleep in his own bed. Both of them are just very heavy sleepers. One time, the oldest one had a virus. I got up in the night to check on him, and he was laying on the floor in a puddle of vomit! I cleaned him up, changed his jammies and sheets, etc, and put him back into bed. I don’t think he woke up the whole time! Karla
