PLEASE help: Where to buy DDAVP for Diabetes Insipidus

Question:

Jeff, What country is he in ? In the US, you can get it under a need program from the manufacturer.  The doc who prescribes it can do this. Endos often get free samples of DDAVP. Urologists and pedi docs sometimes get samples too, to help with bedwetting children. Outside the US, I can’t help you. It doesn’t ship well overseas, since it needs to stay refrigerated. Good luck, William Biggs MD — Our spam filters are on!  When replying, remove the "no-spam-to-" from our address. Thanks !!!

Currently we buy it (he is not cover by insurance because he lives in another country)  Does anyone have any suggestions how we can get DDAVP cheap?

Response:

I never heard of this stuff. Why would you buy it?  You gotta be kidding… signed, Earl, type 2, still alive

Ted – Diabetes Insipidus is a real disease ……give it a rest. Beanie, Type I (Humalog and Ultralente)

Response:

In case anybody actually cares diabetes insipidus is the kind of diabetes in which the excessive urine has no taste (get it, insipid=tasteless?). There are several types of DI, involving pituitary or kidney disease. DDAVP is the treatment for the pituitary types.     Diabetes mellitus, as I’m sure you know, derives its name from the sweet, honey taste of the excessive urine. In fact, the name Melissa meant roughly "honey" or "sweetie" in Greek.     And physicians of course used to be called "pisse prophets." All endocrinologists are thankful we don’t have to tell the difference the old fashioned way!
