Nocturnal Migraine

Question:

My quite classic migraines almost always start in the night. What’s unusual about that? Cause: bad wiring. –Julianne

Response:

Need info regarding migraines that originate only at night and carry thru to waking hours. Responds to Zomig. However, concerned with initiating cause and rebound.

A study last year showed that people with chronic headaches contract their temporalis muscles, on average, *14 times* more intensely that in asymptomic controls.  (The temporalis covers the temples, and serves to squeeze the jaws together). Here’s a slide tutorial (sorry, it was kind of intended for dentists) that show how to avoid this possible potent TRIGGER!     -Jim

Response:

I was having a migraine every night for it seems like 10 years and I think it was triggered by Aspertame.  I didn’t use that much but when I stopped using it in my coffee and stopped drinking diet pop, I have not had one since.  I think that even very small doses of SOMETHING can cause nightly headaches.

:    Jim, what an amazing ability!  A complete diagnosis based on one paragraph. : And here I thought the possibilities were enormous.   I didn’t see Dr. Boyd making any diagnosis.  He presented information from his area of expertise.  I guess you don’t know that Dr. Boyd’s device has helped several people in this newsgroup. :    I thought that maybe caffeine withdrawal, rebound, altered sleep schedules, : diet, weather, pressure systems, ….Yadda….. Yadda  could all be involved. : Foolish I thought this was hard stuff and that many of us need to "work at it" : for years to figure out all the possible triggers.  Some of us are even so slow : we don
