silly pred head question……..

Question:

Tracy, how about clenching you teeth?  I was doing that on pred also. — Take Care, Sherry  :o)

Not grinding my teeth.  I used to and I would wake up with my jaw so sore! But it actually feels the best when I wake up… worst after eating.  I’m pretty sure it’s the fluid….   No infection… Be well- Tracy CD class of ‘98 my homepage: http://home.talkcity.com/ParadiseDr/goodboie/index.html  : )  smile – it makes people wonder what you’re up to!

either take a benzo (sleeping pill) and/or get a bite splint.  there is no "treatment" for bruxism. jeff, cd class of o1

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have this exact same reaction and problem!  Anyone find a treatment, class of ‘97 Okay, this is going to sound really silly…. I’m on 45 mg of pred and my head is getting HUGE.  I used to have alot of jaw problems due to TMJ, but it has been under control for quite a few years.  The past 3 days, my jaw has been killing me!  It hurts when I chew and sometimes when I don’t…  it aches for a while after my meals, and is giving me headaches.  I know it is centered around the jaw because it is very tender when I touch the area in front of my ears. It just occurred to me that maybe the swelling in my cheeks, neck, etc is adding pressure to my jaw (TMJ joint)?  Does this sound crazy?  Or do you think it could be something else going on?  Just looking for suggestions…. Thanks in advance! Be well- Tracy CD class of ‘98 my homepage: http://home.talkcity.com/ParadiseDr/goodboie/index.html  : )  smile – it makes people wonder what you’re up to!

i used to have sore jaw joints…didn’t find out until years later i was grinding my teeth.  i have 5 crowns now due to weakened teeth that eventially broke.  i have been wearing a bite splint for 3 years now, should have been wearing it 30 years ago!!  i wear one out in 2 years, this is my original but had it reconditioned once (they pour new plastic on the side you grind on, is 1/10th the cost of a new one).  it actually cracked and split it was getting worn so thin. jeff, cd class of o1

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It funny that you asked her that because I think I did that when I was on Pred.   But, when I’d wake up my jaw would feel like I had chewed a pack of gum during the night.  Man that hurt! — Take Care, Sherry  :o) do you grind you teeth at nite? jeff, cd class of o1 Okay, this is going to sound really silly…. Funny that you should ask…..when I take prednisone at higher end doses, I grind my teeth…probably because on prednisone I generally feel severely stressed…I have TMJ too, and it acts up from the tooth grinding…. Donna

Actually I was thinking that with the water retention in your jaw area maybe it has altered the way your bottom and top jaws are meeting just a little bit and that small difference is causing your pain since you are already sensitive to jaw problems? Wow, that was one long run-on sentence! Debs – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – No you don’t sound silly at all.  It is probably the steroid causing the swelling and steroids also can effects joints.  Are you sure you don’t have an infection?  Why take any chances, give your doc a  call and see what he says.  Sorry I can’t do any better. Also try to see if you are grinding your teeth together because that can cause the TMJ .  UM MOM Susan Okay, this is going to sound really silly….
