B5= tired

Question:

IS anyone that take B5 vitamins feeling more tired or is it just me that go home directly after school and go to sleep??i’m eating 10g/day

Response:

I’ve been on 5 grams/day since Saturday, and I feel good. In fact, I arguably feel a little more energy than I did before. How much sleep do you get per night? What time do you go to bed? How many calories do you eat per day? What is your work? –Will

Response:

I think most people, myself included, feel restless when first taking it. The behavior eventually wore off and so did the ferocious appetite I initially had on 5grams/day.

I’ve been taking B5 for months and found (about 2 months ago) that I was very tired after 2pm till the end of the day ! I first thought it could be due to my (too) high screen resolution, but I’m now getting the feeling that it could be related to B5… I reduced my dosage about 4 weeks ago (and will again reduce it beginning on tomorrow) and now feel less sleepy on the afternoon… So, there may be some drawbacks to B5 !? [6g/day for about 5-6 months, then 4 g/day for one month...acne still doesn't come back :-) will try to reduce to 3g/day beginning tomorrow !] – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – IS anyone that take B5 vitamins feeling more tired or is it just me that go home directly after school and go to sleep??i’m eating 10g/day

Response:

I was sort of thinking about this since yesterday… I wonder if it’s because the B5 is making your body heal faster/better, metabolize more lipids, etc? I mean, all those processes must come at a price, so the body is telling you it needs more sleep because it’s actually doing more for you. I dunno, just a thought. –Will

I only sleep 6 houres a day=(…and i go to school…. I also have found out that i’m nore hungry now…hungry all the time…my strength in heavy lifting has also increased very much this month….but thats maybe because i train harder????? have been eting this for a month now

Response:

Lack of sleep will onviously make you feel tired, but it will also lower your strength (as seen in your workouts). Training harder and more can lead to overtraining, where you will lose strength and feel yet more tired. It sounds like you’re doing too much. The absolute minimum recommended sleep (yeah, everyone’s different, but it’s rare to need very little sleep) is 8 hours per night, with more people falling in at around 9 hours to meet their sleep requirements. All of this will also impact the condition of your skin. Sounds like you need to take a break, train a little less frequently and sleep more. Being hungry all the time is also a sure sign that you aren’t eating enough (obviously), which could be due either to just not getting enough calories to begin with, or because you’re burning that many more with the increased workouts. –Will

Hi, I think you misunderstood, Will. Marcus felt stronger, and that is not too much of a surprise, as your metabolic system is more effective. For better eating habits, I will point you to www.cbass.com, where you can find many good tips on eating. Remember that humans are snackers, and not three meals a day creatures. Also, eating protein gives a better feeling of being full than carbs and fat. Finally, adding some good fat to every meal will keep you going longer before you get hungry again. How is your B5 experiment going, Will? I have been taking MSM (2 g a day) for nearly a week, and when I had squatting day and deadliftday yesterday, I noticed what could be an increase in strength. Im not sure.   Anyways, Ill get my B5 today I hope, and then we will see what the b5 can do. Im getting Solgar pills, and I dont think they are time released. Should I take them split in three throughout the day, or just morning and evening? Best wishes, Mads L Holvik, Norway

Response:

B5 is used in many energy drinks in australia its just a few cases due to your life style dont just blame it on B5 and it is possible to over sleep — Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).

Response:

I seem to be doing fine with the B5 so far. It’s really been too short a period (not even a week) for me to really notice anything, but I don’t have any of the minor side effects mentioned by others (I’m on 5 grams/day taken 1 gram each at 5 meals). It may be just my imagination, but my skin does seem to be already breaking out less. I expect this is going to take me months, because of my seborrheic dermatitis, to really see dramatic improvements. The b5 I got aren’t time-release. I don’t think it really matters as long as you’re taking them at intervals through the day and not all at once. If I don’t see some noticable improvement in a month, I think I may move up to 7 grams/day. –Will – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi, I think you misunderstood, Will. 5 meals! Isn’t breakfast, lunch and dinner enough?

Response:

I found out a long time ago that my energy levels are more constant throughout the day if I divide my calories up over 5 meals instead of 3. I eat about 2000 calories a day and weigh about 150lbs. I have a job that has me dealing with the public and moving around a lot so I really do need to keep my energy levels up. The two in-between meals aren’t huge, more like snacks, but the timing is good for taking my B5. I read that it was recommended to take it with food so that there is better absorption… –Will

Check out if you maybe have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. It sounds like you’re in the same situation as me. Here’s a link: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/1123/dsps.html Consider getting a light panel if you find out this is what you have, light therapy has helped me. Cheers
