Chris, Hate to disappoint you but you’ll fit right in here :-) This is a terrific group with many nice people with lot’s of knowledge. Most here have apnea (me also) so you’ll see lots of discussions about it. Don’t be afraid to ask _anything_. — Bob NoMo web page news.newusers.questions Moderation Team Worker news:news.newusers.questions

Dave, That was "ask anything" not ask _for_ anything :-) ) If you want. I have a wallpaper called 80 grand = 4X10,000 bills It’s a 1.5MB bmp but I can compress it to a JPG if you want it. — Bob NoMo web page news.newusers.questions Moderation Team Worker news:news.newusers.questions

Wearing a mask to bed sounds a lot more intimidating than it is. IMHO, it’s a non-issue. >I guess I need to know what to do and what to expect from it. From what I can tell, they’re so conditioned to tell apneics to lose weight that they’d tell anorexic apneics to lose weight. >So, whip out the flamethrowers

Hey, this is a SUPPORT group… most of the time, we’re supportive. We’ve all been in the same boat you’re considering. In my family, we’re now on our second generation of Hoover Heads. I have a nephew younger than you (incidentally, also a "Chris")…. on CPAP… like his mother…. like his uncle.

Forgive me Charles, but when I first started reading and posting here in October, 2000, I posted that my internist (35 year old Harvard grad… da da, da da) said if I lost at least the 25 pounds I had gained, it might go away.  There were no indications I had sleep apnea before I gained the weight, and I was overweight to begin with. There were a few posts that basically said, "Not so!"  One post said that my doctor was merely trying to make me feel better.  However, unless my continuing chronic haze has fouled my reading ability, I’s swear I have read a number of testimonial posts and some good links supporting the fact that, in some, being overweight MAY, but not necessarily, BE the only issue. I think that I can, possibly support this further, now that I have had all of the exams, including endoscopy and throat xray by a maxillo-facial surgeon.  There is nothing else causing my sleep apnea. Bottom line for me is that I dont think we should make it sound like being overweight couldn’t be the cause. Hope this doesn’t twist you too far out of shape..  <GRIN> – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> >So, whip out the flamethrowers > Hey, this is a SUPPORT group… most of the time, we’re supportive. > We’ve all been in the same boat you’re considering. > In my family, we’re now on our second generation of Hoover Heads. > I have a nephew younger than you (incidentally, also a "Chris")…. on > CPAP… like his mother…. like his uncle.

Oh, geez, Tom, you crack me up!  LOL. Nope, not about wearing the mask or using any of the equipment — in any way, shape, or form — while making love.  Part of the discussion will be about telling a potential bedmate, shall I put it, about the machine and mask.  From the Awake in Philly website: "Philadelphia (October 18, 2001)
