Continuous chronic daily tension-type Headache
Question:
Please could you telle me what is there in trileptal, I’m french and , I see this name for the first time. Thank you.
Response:
Hello Peter: I have migraines and almost daily headaches. I tried neurotin but it caused excessive daytime sleepiness so I stopped it. I’m taking Trileptal which is another anti seizure medication often used for headaches according to my neuro. For me thus far it has reduced the intensity and frequency of migraines and daily headaches. Hope this info. helps. I hope some of you have better suggestions.. Thanks for any reply. Kind Regards

I completely agree with Lavon that it’s important to go through all the trial periods when trying preventative and pain meds. Having said that, though, the ones that you list both have pretty miserable side effects for some people. Have you tried the anti-seizure med Topamax, or anti-depressants like Prozac or Elavil? Maybe you would feel a little better if your side effects improved. Also, you don’t mention any pain meds — for tension headaches, it would certainly help you to have a script for something like Fiornal or Vicodin. Are you working with a family doctor, a neurologist, or ?? I’m looking into finding a pain clinic, they seem to be the most willing to help. I hope some of you have better suggestions. My pain is daily and continuous. I have no tension element. Before being put on time-release pain meds, it is imperative to go through every possible preventative and immediate-release pain medication. The side effects of each med alone makes the trial period neccessary and, often, seem endless. But being put on time-release narcotics is a serious, often life-long decision. As much as the different preventatives trial time feels, it gives you an emotional certainty when you do finally end up on a long-term narcotic plan. It is still a very rare occurence when i am completely pain-free, even with the strong meds i have. But it is a million-times better than the time that proceeded it. Deep peace to you, Lavon
