Hypnic Jerk. Harmless.

Response:

It is believed by some that in the sleep state the astral body disassociates itself slightly from the physical body. The jerk is felt when the two bodies snap back into coincidence. I could tell you a lot more, but this is not the right NG for the subject! Regards Tom "wahzoo" <n…@void.com> wrote in message

Response:

Hi Wahzoo- Is the sound like a big crash? I’ve woken up 5-6 times over the years, believing that there was a big crash. Once I thought a tree had fallen on the house. Another time, I thought a huge boulder had crashed into the house. When I asked my doctor, he said it’s called "exploding head syndrome" and that it was just a random firing of a bunch of neurons (or something) and means absolutely nothing. I kind of like having something that’s called "exploding head syndrome"! Does this sound like what you experienced?
There’s a subsystem in the brain that disconnects the brain from the rest of the body so that you don’t start acting out your dreams. It’s indistinguishable functionally from your explanation. — Visit Charlie’s Sneaker Pages: http://sneakers.pair.com/

You may be making a drastic mistake in assuming that there is nothing wrong with your sleep. If you are tired all the time, there is something wrong. And while Apnea is the most commonly discussed here there are other types of sleep disorders, some of which do not display obvious signs. As well a number of conditions can cause constant fatigue and tiredness (thyroid, diabetes, hormone imbalance – the list is nearly endless). Do not assume that fatigue is merely an irritant. It can and will kill you if left untreated – slowly or quickly, in an accident or by organ failure, incorrect treatment in a hospital. Go see a doctor and do not settle for anything other than a treatment that works for you. There are a number of sites with questionnaires you can fill out which can provide you an indication of probable cause and others where you can gather information. And this group is an excellent source of info & guidance. Some links to get you started: http://www.sleep-apnea.ab.ca/ http://www.css.to/about/index.htm http://talkaboutsleep.com/Default.htm http://www.sjhsleepcenter.com/ When you are have read through these, you can go to www.google.com and enter various search strings that closely resemble the symptoms you are aware of: e.g., sleep +snore +fatigue or fatigue +memory +anxiety. Do come back and post any and all questions you might have. "sword" <sw…@asarian-host.net> wrote in message

Be aware that just because your eyes are closed and you are in an unconscious state, i.e. ‘asleep’, you may not be getting (what is called) quality sleep.
