Yes I do. Sometimes I browse newsgroups looking for questions to answer. I kid you not. I think that in itself qualifies me as a research junkie. Actually, I call it "websearching". I never know WHERE I’ll wind up, or WHAT I might find. KenJ

Looking for specific questions you have in mind for yourself? or for others? or from other groups? etc? There is a place on America Online that is members help forum…sort of like message board for new people. I post there and try to help others…tell them all the places they can go on the internet. Plus there are my parents. They think I’m a web-goddess. They need info and they call me up – I get it to them 123. They are on the internet but ..well, it takes them a little longer ..hehe

She may not know I am right, darlin’……and what you may not be able to accept is that it may make no difference to her. Women who have been physically abused have been emotionally abused as well. Their sense of worth has been taken from them. They finally end up feeling that they deserve this treatment. Or they become so dispirited that they have not the will to do anything. Many of these women end up dead. One punch too hard, one shove into something that breaks a rib that punctures a lung or heart. I have sheltered battered women in my own home. Have stood armed and ready and threatened their abuser when they have come to try to take them until police could arrive. Have bandaged and held…..and then have watched them go back to be abused some more. They have left hospital beds to go back because they fear "he" will kill them if they do not. Or they believe "his" promises that he will never do it again. Or that it is not his fault, but theirs….if they would only learn not to upset him….and so they think they can do that and back they go. How much harder to get them to leave in the first place….many only leave when they are carried out on stretchers. Show her this. Ask her if she wishes to be one who is carried out on a stretcher. This is a tough one, first let me tell you that I don’t think there is anyone lower than a man that beats on a women. I despise a man that would do such a thing. If the desire to hit comes up than the thing to do is walk away. No one deserves that crap, just as you said. I’m having difficulty with sweet words to be honest as I’m thinking about that scoundrel. Is there not a womens shelter where she can run? Have the police been involved? Guess I’m full of more questions than I am answers. Sorry, I’ll try to get back. It’s tough and you have every right and honor to ask, in fact that is the honorable thing to do Papa. Seen this sort of thing far to often, I have a sister that’s in and out of the hospital (mental ward) due to so many beating she took from the flakjdlkadk husband of hers. It needs to stop before she is no longer or ends up a veggie which is many cases is the same thing. He need to be put away yet as you said where does she live, how does she eat. Can she work? Even if so it’s hard starting all over and worse yet with the trauma that’s gonna haunt her for a long time if not the rest of her life. Some areas, like just 10 miles from my own town, have shelters for battered women where they do take them in feed them take care of them and there addresses are not given out etc. etc.. If there was something along those lines in her area she should seriously think about it. Hope this helps. Dear Papa… My opinion….tell this lady to get out of there!! She does not have to put up with this physical abuse !! There are Battered Women’s Organizations all over the U.S…..and most states have tightened up on their domestic violence laws. You say her children are gone….where have they gone ? If she has grow children, then surely she could stay with one of them while she gets herself together. Another alternative is the church. I am not Catholic, but I believe the Catholic church has programs to help people in situations such as your friend. Of course, other denominations have programs….but it seems the Catholic church is more willing to help non-members. Papa….you are trying to be this lady’s friend…and if you have questions, then ask them. This lady can get out … but she has to want out. Please remember that.
