Cats

Question:

Greg, Thanks for posting this.  It is especially timely for me.  I put my feline companion of almost 18 years to sleep this morning. He lived up to a good many of these adages, but especially this one: >"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never >forgotten this." – Anonymous

I’m not left completely alone, tho.  I have my dog Lucie, and my furbaby Ari. Because, as Papa used to say: >"One cat just leads to another." – Ernest Hemingway

Thanks again, Greg! — Our lives begin to end the day we are silent about things that matter.                                         Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lisa – that is so hard to do.  I suppose all pet owners  go thru this at some time and what gets us thru is that we know it was the kind thing to do. >>"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never >>forgotten this." – Anonymous

Yep – that’s my big guy too! >I’m not left completely alone, tho.  I have my dog Lucie, and my furbaby >Ari. Because, as Papa used to say: >>"One cat just leads to another." – Ernest Hemingway

Last year we visited Hemingway’s house in Key West — cats were all over the place, they are now the honored residents and allowed everywhere.  They are the offspring of Hemingway’s original cats. Many of them have six toes because Hemingway thought that six-toed cats were lucky. elcam – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Thanks again, Greg! >– >Our lives begin to end the day we are silent about things that matter. > Martin Luther King, Jr.

It was hard. But the vet, whom I’ve come to trust completely over the course of Mo’s illness, described what would happen over the course of the day, and it was horrible to think of Moey going through those things. And since this vet had been telling me how Moey’s illness would go (and had been right) all this time, I believed him and wanted to prevent the suffering Mo would have gone through. Still, it was hard to hold him and know it was the last time. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->>>"Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. I’ve read about Hemingway’s house, and seen some of the cats once on Animal Planet. Hard to imagine Mr. Macho having such a soft spot in his heart for the furpeople! I’d like to visit there some day my self. — Our lives begin to end the day we are silent about things that matter.                                         Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thankyou Greg for posting this. I laughed so hard I almost died. I needed this today. My husband and I bought a 5 month old kitten from a shelter almost a month ago, and she definitely fits most of those sayings. Especially the "There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast." I just went out to have a cigarette and Azriel (the cat) decided it was breakfast time (at 6:30am ???) and wouldn’t be quiet. Finally I had to give her something or I feared she would wake my husband. Anyways, thanks again for posting this. I’m going to show my husband when he wakes up. I know he’ll get a laugh out of it too. Megan

I’m a cat owner too.  He’s now 7 and absolutely gorgeous.  I saw this before but I enjoyed it once again. elcam

I like what George Carlin says: cats never make mistakes, if they jump and miss they immediately starting cleaning themselves, look around to see if somebody saw them, and act like they meant to do that. Later, if you pull out the couch you can find them behind there swearing. I have a Siamese/Balinese. She’s 7 years old. Very tiny – 5lbs. She’s about half the size of a normal cat. She sleeps with me at night curled up against my neck. I love her. Take care, Greg. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -elcam wrote in message <7b775c$…@bgtnsc01.worldnet.att.net>… >GoF wrote in message <36d6bf4…@news.blarg.net>… >>Thankyou Greg for posting this.
