continuous BCP vs. surgery

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – SInce i’m already basicaly in menopause, would I need to do anything different HRT if I have surgery? Thanks for any input, I am getting a second opinion dr in July. Hi – Why do you think you’re in menopause?  Being on continuous birth control pills doesn’t mimic menopause.  From what I’ve read it mimics being pregnant.  I’ve been doing that for six years now.  My last dr. visit I asked how I would know when I DO go through menopause.  He said that continous BCPs is like being on HRT, and when I’m 50 I can stop for a couple of months to see if menopause has hit. I’m glad to see you’re getting a 2nd opinion in July.  Don’t make any decisions until then, please!!  And if that sounds fishy, get a 3rd. Dutchie

Maybe it is the other hormone and meds. I have Major hot flashes, wieght gain, mood swings, no libido or ograsm, joint pain and insomnia. The elavil is preventing the migraines but causes more hot flashes. the testosterone improves the sex but causes acne and bitchiness. I did not have libido or orgasm during pregnancy, but none of the other side effects. I have read too many things about Hormones and HRt, i am so confused. Nowhere does it talk about the continuous BCP for endo in relaitonship to which hormones are doing what to my body. Anyhow, thanks for the input and I am getting the surgical report next week from my 7 yr old lap, just to find out if the Dr evaluated / rated my endo.

My dr won’t do lasering, he found endo with a lap 6 yr ago. SInce hten I had 4 pg and 2 children. I just weaned my 2nd baby in Oct, and after my first period in Nov the dr put me on continous BCP. It was hell, lots of bleeding. FInally in Feb we found the right pill to stop the bleeding. Then i found out my testoerone was 0, not even on the chart. I began taling hormone cream which is fine, but have terrible acne. I am also taking elavil to prevent the migraines, and have awful hot flashes. Not looking forward to this in a Florida summer. The dr wants me to have a total hysterectomy. My pain is gone from the period cycle, now just at intimacy and in the morning. Would it be better to take painkillers and try to combat the pill side effects? I’ve seen posts of surgery not being totally usccesful, esp since he never lasered any of the endo that exists now. SInce i’m already basicaly in menopause, would I need to do anything different HRT if I have surgery? Thanks for any input, I am getting a second opinion dr in July.
