Effexor XR in the morning intead of at night
Question:
Hi James, I take Effexor XR (150) in the morning, I never tried it at night, so I can’t give you a comparison. My doctor gave me Restoril (?) to help me sleep, but I found that taking Melatonin works just fine. I would think that the Xanax would make you sleepy, it would me, but then I never could tolerate tranquilizers, I have low blood pressure. A while ago you posted in response to an ECT thread a theory about depression and the different levels of meds kind of like stages? I responded rather late, but I was interested in your post. I’m hoping you know what I am talking about, and if you would like to email me Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you about the Effexor in the AM. Take Care, Sue
Response:
Hey folks: I am experimenting a bit with taking my Effexor XR dose along with my Xanax in the morning instead of at night. The problem is, even though I get to bad at an "ok" time, the Effexor seems to cause REALLY restless dreams..and I wake up feeling REAALY crappy. Whereas, taking it in the morning, as I did today, seems fine, except for some mild drowsiness.(Coffe and tea seem to help overcome this a bit.) I also find the Efeexor WAY more effective when taken in the morning, while I am still awake, as it doens’t seem to have as good effect the following day if I take it at night. If insomnia becomes a problem, I amy ask my pdoc for a perscription for Zoplicone (which is much like Ambien in the US..little side effects and low tolerance, etc..) I would appreciate any emailed respones, but post to if you like. Thanks.. James:-) When man is born, he is tender and weak. At death, he is stiff and hard. All things, the grass as well as trees, are tender and supple while alive. When dead, they are withered and dried. Therefore the stiff and hard are companions of death. The tender and the weak are companions of life. – Lao-Tzu
