Yes,I took it..for way too long.It can cause blackouts–I made phone calls and had no memory of doing it–my dr said this was a side effect.Didn’t like that,so i gave it up.Be careful.

I’ve been taking Ambien, a sleeping pill, for about the past 8 months to help me fall asleep. It’s used for short-term insomnia. I take one 10mg pill, and it really knocks me out in about 20 minutes. But I rarely feel like I’ve had a good night’s rest after taking it. Has anyone else ever taken Ambien? Anyone know the long-term side effects of taking Ambien?

I’ve used it on occasion. The sleep is ok but not great. I also noticed that it may possibly worsen depression (induce it?). Since it’s a relatively new drug, the long-term side effects won’t be known…I would try using something else for long-term sleeping problems (a benzo maybe?). Regards, .

The best sleep I ever had was when I hit myself over the head with a rock. I strongly recommend it. I’ve taken Ambien. It did knock me out but I felt hung over the next day. I’ve switched to melatonin (with the permission of my doctor) which is over the counter in the vitamin/supplement area of the supermarket. it makes me sleepy in about 20 minutes. I have taken it for almost 2 years. I started out with 10mgs but went to 15 within a month. I just break one of the 10mgs in half. I take it for cronic insominia. But i make a real effort not to take it on the weekend, even though i know i will be up for two days with no sleep usually because it seems to lose its effectivness. I normally only get 4-5 hours of sleep out of it. Its hard to get off of, i tried it cold turkey for about two weeks and thought i was going to lose my mind from lack of sleep. Christine

<delurk> a friend of mine took it several years back, it was then classified as an anti-depressant. it made her hallunicate and generally freak out. i suppose because of similar reports it was too dangerous to market as an anit-depressant so they changed the marketing to a sleeping pill. try taking half a dose and staying awake. i promise you some serious weirdness. they do stuff like this a lot. olestra was orgionally created by Proctor and Gamble as a drug but it was proven too damaging to the body from the fact that it strips and depletes your body of vitamins. what did they do? changed the marketing and added it to all sorts of food. eat too much of the stuff and youre sick on the toilet for hours. duh. i expect this to be recalled in the next few years due to long term health problems and possible lawsuits. they really dont give adequate testing and time before unleashing these things on the unsuspecting public. its all about $ http://www.limefire.com </delurk>

It was actually an attempt to make a more absorbable fat, but they went the wrong direction big-time. >i expect this to be recalled in the next few years due to >long term health problems and possible lawsuits.
The market has pretty much killed off Olean. In fact, P&G sold off the manufacturing facilities for it in February. >they really dont give adequate testing and time before unleashing >these things on the unsuspecting public.
CSPI says the same thing about mycoprotein. They’ve been eating it in the UK since 1985, and they did pilot-scale research for a decade-plus before that. — Visit Charlie’s Sneaker Pages: http://sneakers.pair.com/

I took it for almost two months after starting CPAP. After getting used to the CPAP I stopped taking it every day and felt much better during the daytime — even though I was waking up more at night. I just quit without tapering off which was a mistake. The first night I stopped taking Ambien I had a lot of anxiety all night (hardly slept at all) and the next day. But the next night and day I had a VERY nice mellow feeling. My advice is (1) switch from Ambien to Sonata, which has a shorter lasting effect. (2) Don’t take either drug more than 1 or 2 nights in a row. (3) Taper off instead of quiting cold turkey. Taking it every day for 8 months is way too long in my personal opinion. At the very least go without it for 2 weeks (tapering off) and see if you feel better without it.
