Hi Maria, It is the right url, but I am having trouble with it now too. I am sorry about that and found a new website that has the same info. Jackie Type O blood is the most common blood type; however, there is an uncommon need for Type O donors. Almost half of all blood ordered daily by hospitals is Type O. Type O Negative blood can be transfused safely to patients of all blood types. People who are Type O Negative are consided to be universal donors. Type O Positive blood can be safely received by patients with any of the positive blood types. A premature baby’s life can depend on transfusions, but the unusual crossmatching and blood typing procedures may not be possible. Many hospitals transfuse only Type O blood to these babies. In someemergencies, the patient needs a transfusion immediately–there is not time to crossmatch blood. Often, the patient receives Type O blood until the emergency is over and the patient is stable.  A shortage of Type O blood is the worst of all blood shortages, because O blood must be available to treat trauma patients, as well as meet the transfusion needs      of all Type O patients. A shortage of Type O is responsible for most emergency appeals for blood donors nationally. Because Type O blood is constantly needed, you can play a vital role in making sure enough Type O is available for patients. You can make a blood donation  every 56 days.    Possible Transfusion Combinations Blood type                     Can be given to                                     patiens with type   O+                         O+, A+, B+, AB+    A+                             A+, AB+    B+                             B+, AB+   AB+                                AB+      O-                         O+, A+, B+, AB+,                                   O-, A-, B-, AB-      A-                         A+, AB+, A-, AB-      B-                         B+, AB+, B-, AB-     AB-                             AB+, AB-  Patient with type           Can receive type           O+                              O+, O-           A+                        O+, A+, O-, A-           B+                         O+, B+, O-, B-          AB+                  O+, A+, B+, AB+,                                   O-, A-, B-, AB-           O-                                 O-            A-                               O-, A-            B-                               O-, B-          AB-                          O-, A-, B-, AB-               Are You My Type?  B Just out of curiousity, for those that know your blood type, can you  B tell me? I was wondering if there is a link to anxiety/PA’s. Mine is type A. Mine’s O positive. The most boring bloodtype this side of the world, and that while my parents both have very interesting, rare bloodtypes! I’m such a loser! :-)  B Type O:  B Eat meat, high protein, low carb, cut out wheat and most other  B grains, engage in vigorious aerobic exercise. Ahem. I really don’t want to diminish those advices since I’m no docter. But I do know that the less animal products you eat, the better this is for you (and, of course, for the animals). This works for me too and I’m a full-blooded Type O! Eat no dairy products (this is even worse than meat) and eat lots of grain. This is better for almost everyone, I dare to say. Stuff yourself with vegetables and fruits and you will feel better within days. Promise. You will loose overweight, too. But their is a link between depression and diet (of course, since we all know depression is biological) and with a certain diet you can diminish your depression. Nature’s meds, so to speak. Unfortunately, I forgot which foods it were. I will go and look for you. Must be VERY interesting information for all of us. Dag dag, T. — |Fidonet:  Timon 2:284/420.36

Hehe…LOL…..You don’t have to believe it Arthur, my dad would probably say the same thing. But this info is for anyone interested. There are also a couple of websites if anyone is interested.  One is a board similar to this one that people ask questions on, and many have stated that the diet has "changed" their lives.  The doctor has 50 or so years of study behind this.  I find the book fascinating.  For those of you that don’t, just ignore this info. I’m actually going to do this diet and lifestyle change.  His profile of type A, and the stress response fits me to a tee.  I’m also sending more info about Type A and Type O to this NG, that I’m keeping in my files. Even if you don’t believe the food part of it, it wouldn’t hurt to try the stress-release part of it.   Bye, Maria

I just got this book today, I’ve been meaning to buy it for a couple of years. It is called: Eat Right For Your Type by Dr. Peter J.D’Adamo.  This Doctor’s father noticed that certain patients did worse with certain foods, and others improved with certain foods.  He then studied this extensively….and here are some of his results:  There are also personality profiles, and exercises that you should be doing for your specific blood types.

Release this by physical means.  Your risk factors for ulcers and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis increase if you eat incorrectly for your type. Type A: You should be a vegetarian (high carbo, low fat), engage in gentle exercise such as yoga or golf.  Meditate to deal with stress.  Type A’s react to the first stage of stress–the alarm stage– intellectually. If you adopt quieting techniques, you can achieve great benefits by countering negative stressors. Type A’s do not respond well to continuous confrontation.  Your risk factors for cancer and heart disease increase if you eat incorrectly for your type. Type B: You should have the most varied diet of all the blood types, one including meat: yours is the only blood type that does well with dairy products. Engage in exercise such as moderate swimming or walking.  Your risk for slow-growing viruses that attack the nervous system increases if you eat incorrectly for your type. Type AB: You have most of the benefits and intolerances of types A and B.  Engage in calming exercises and relaxation techniques.  You have the friendliest immune system of all the blood types.

Hi Maria,       I’m type A+.  It’s interesting that for several months I was almost totally vegetarian.  I did feel very good and had less anxiety.  Maybe I should consider returning to that lifestyle.  You’ve given me something to think about.  Thanks for sharing this info. Debby :)
