I'm starting to regret taking Lupron :(

Question:

Blaire-if your having a lot of the normal side effects of Lupron ask your doctor about estrogen patches.  Some people do not like to use them.  BUT they do counter act some of the side effects.  I used them when I did Lupron.  They really helped to get control the irritability, hot flashes, night sweats, and headaches.

Response:

Hi Blaire, You should have been warned – Lupron can make things a LOT worse in the first few weeks/first month. You may also get a period this month which may be heavier and stronger than usual. After that things will hopefully ease up! Side-effects of Lupron certainly include insomnia, headache, fatigue amongst many others. So, this is normal but should get better, hopefully! Why did you choose to take the injection without a lap? Sorry if you have already said that, I’ve been a sporadic visitor at best these last few months! Keep in mind that Lupron can only be used for six months lifetime usage, you can not take it again if you later have endo confirmed via lap…. Hope you feel better soon – if it helps, I recently completed a course of Zoladex, which is very similar to Lupron, and after the first fortnight I fell in love with the drug and wanted to be on it for life ;-) (Mind, many other women hate it!) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – So, about 2 weeks ago I had my first Lupron shot, and I feel even worse than I did. My head hurts all the time (like a migraine feelings), legs hurt, always tired but I can’t sleep at night for the life of me.  I just have constant pain and confusion, it’s hard for me to function? Is this the Lupron? Anyone ever have this happen? The worst part is, I try to hold it all in. I’m in college in the mornings and teach 4 year olds in the afternoon, so all day I try to ignore the pain. But as soon as I get home I just let it all out.  My poor boyfriend, he has to put up with it all the time.  Sometimes, I wish he could really know and understand the pain I’m in but I can’t find the words to describe it to him. Anyways, the point of this is that I feel worse than I did before the shot.  Keep in mind, the doctor did not do a lap to make sure I have endo, just started me on treatment.  What is the problem here. :( Will this ever get better or am I doomed? Thank you. Blaire
