My experiences with panic and nervousness
Question:
I was in my late 40’s when I started experiencing panic disorder. I didn’t know what was happening during these attacks so I ended up in an emergency room 3 times. Now my attacks could probably not be classified as panic but extreme nervousness. I’ve noticed that the nervousness can be brought on by intense mental activity; I’m in the software business and my work often involves working on difficult, frustrating technical problems. Does anyone share these symptoms? I’m now being treated with Tranxzene which lowers the level of nervousness but makes me extremely fatigued and seems to cause minor feelings of depression. Can anyone share their experiences with this medication? Steve

I was prescribed Tranxene (7.5mg bid) in 1984 for nervousness and insomnia. I found Tranxene to be only moderately effective, and I too experienced a hangover effect from this drug. Ask your doctor about a trial of Xanax or Ativan, which are newer and better drugs for anxiety management. I have heard that Tranxene is a good drug of choice for helping wean patients from longtime use of other benzos. Bill
