Need advice for problem
Question:
Decreased Sexual Ability <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Decreased Libido <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Impotence <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Like with Zoloft, when you read the incident rates, they appear to be relatively low. Many psychiatrists believe that for whatever reason the incident rates of sexual dysfunction are highly underreported. Prozac, I think, is one of the worst of the lot. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised that a full 50% of the patients taking Prozac suffered from some form of sexual setback. Loss of libido and delayed ejaculation are the most common. C/

Precisely. I’m now saving money by dropping Serzone, one of the "safe" ones, that was lousing things up royally.

Hello, I’m 32 and am already experiencing temporary impotence….my erections do not last long enough to have normal intercourse, and sometimes oral stimulation doesn’t help either….Are there any vitamins that I can try that will help me with erections or should I just see a doctor first? Is Viagra totally safe? What should I do? the problem is getting worse all the time….thanks…Gary
Response:
A doctor visit is an excellent idea. Getting plenty of rest, a good diet, quitting smoking, drinking and coffee are also good ideas. You don’t say if you are using any perscription or non perscription drugs, but if you are, they too might be causing a problem…(another reason to visit a good doctor.) From the little you’ve said, you sound like a good candidate for Viagra. Another reason to see a doctor. Steve

Steve L said it all. I would only add that you read the FAQ. Along with good information, you may find something there that will also help. — Jerry of ASI www.alt-support-impotence.org

If his doctor is smart, he’ll insist on a checkup first, to rule out potential hazards or problems that may just eliminate the need for Viagra. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hello, I’m 32 and am already experiencing temporary impotence ….my erections do not last long enough to have normal intercourse, and sometimes oral stimulation doesn’t help either ….Are there any vitamins that I can try that will help me with erections or should I just see a doctor first? In the PDR, the incident rate for loss of libido in depressed patients taken Zoloft is 1%. Other subject groups had different loss rates. Sexual difficulties in general tend to be underreported, and very depressed patients may be considerably less likely to *care* about libido, so this may skew the figures further. So yes, Zoloft *could* be causing your drop in libido. I’ll even explain why in a minute. 7% of depressed patients suffered delayed ejaculation / orgasm. That is the more common side effect… generally true for all SSRI medications, actually. What you should do is bring this subject up with your physician. A number of drugs, including Wellbutrin, Remeron, and Buspar are used as adjunct therapy to help users of SSRI medication recover sexual interest and lost sexual capabilities due to using SSRI medication. In case you are wondering why this is happening, here’s why: Zoloft increases serotonin in the brain, *at the synapses*. There are different sorts of places in the brain for processing serotonin called "receptors". Some of them — the ones called "5HT-2" — downregulate your libido if too much serotonin is present. Several antidepressants effect libido quite a bit less, so you could, in theory switch. Wellbutrin would be the top of the list, particularly if you can tolerate it’s strongly stimulating nature. However, if your depression is being treated well by the Zolof, I (and any comptentent psychiatrist) would recommend you try adjunctive therapy first. This is because it’s actually quite tough finding a good antidepressant, and switching away from one that is working without trying a few sensible alternatives first does not make sense. I couldn’t find Allegra in either my PDR or the PDR for non description drugs. Do you happen to know its generic name? Do you find that Allegra interrupts your sleep at all? Anyway, Good luck and I hope this helps, C/

All of the drug databases that I access point to sexual dysfunction problems with Zoloft. Allegra is Fexofenadine Hcl – no other brand names. It doesn’t have sexual side effects.
