Paxil – Best time to take?

Question:

My question is what is the best time to take Paxil. In the morning or at night before you go to bed? I hear many people take it at night before they go to bed. I have been taking it in the morning before I go to work. Is there any difference in it’s effects when you take it? Thanks Brian

Paxil is supposed to be more sedating than other SSRI’s. If you notice a sedating effect then it’s best to take it at bedtime. Otherwise, it shouldn’t make a difference either way. hth, Craig

I take Paxil before bed, because it causes drowsiness and I hope to sleep it all off.  However, I still feel drowsy when I wake up in the morning, and it lasts for a few hours… Andrew

Brian, If you’re not having trouble sleeping because of the Paxil, IMO you can take it any time of the day you want and you won’t notice a significant difference in effect.  If it’s causing you to have insomnia, take it in the morning.  Above is based on my experience. Doug
