Questions for anyone on ADHD meds…
Question:
I’m newly diagnosed with ADD and have agreed to participate in a clinical trial for Provigil (modafinil) which has been used effectively for treating narcolepsy. I’m 34 yrs old, and while I’m glad to finally get a handle on what’s been happening to me my whole life, I’m a bit concerned about two things in particular. Firstly, I’m worried about unwanted effects. For instance, while I may have my impulsivity and fidgeting under control, will my reflexes suffer? How much will my thought processes change? I’ve always been able to "think on my feet" and make decisions quickly. Will this be effected? Secondly, what about long term usage? I’d like to hear from anyone whose been on any meds for ADD for a year or more. I guess what I really want to know is, was it worth it? I’d love to be able to concentrate and actually finish things without wasting so much time "drifting off" or leaving my seat for no reason. Are the pros worth the cons? Any input from anyone will be helpful. Thanks, Val * Sent from AltaVista http://www.altavista.com Where you can also find related Web Pages, Images, Audios, Videos, News, and Shopping. Response:
Quick answer, yes it was worth it. Ability to make decisions should not be affected with the meds that are commonly prescribed–can’t say anything about what Provigil will do for you–that’s why they’re having clinical trials, to find out. — — — John Reply to jclarke at eye bee em dot net
