Med for combination of OCD and Sleep Disorders.

Question:

It sounds like you have a complex set of problems. Sleep apnea may be best treated with CPAP. Medication and CBT for OCD are usually effective. Serzone is not usually seen as a first choice for OCD but if it helps you go for it. It may help with sleep that tends to be disrupted by SSRIs. You may need a combination of treatments for best results. Keep leaving stuff plugged in. Each time you don’t give in you take a chip off the OCD. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -mib…@nwlink.com wrote: > I would like to know what kind of meds those of you who have both OCD > and some sort of sleep disorder are taking. > I am trying to figure out what my future holds for me considering my > OCD, Diabetes, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Insomnia due to > depresision caused by the Diabetes and Apnea. > Right now I am on 150 mg twice daily of Serzone after being on Paxil > for a year and a half.  I’m a little spacy and I notice I am slipping > back into some bad obssesive habits (checking the lights.) > I’m having some success with behavior modification by leavig certain > "problem" appliances plugged in while I am at work.  I need to slow my > mind down but, it seems I’m loosing the progess I made on Paxil. > I hated Paxil cause of mood swings. > Jim Cox > * Antispam Warning:  Replace "web" in my email address * > *                    with "a51" to reply via email.    *

Hiya Jim, Hmmm – tough one. I’m on Paxil now and have been since Sept 98 and my sleep was definitely affected. My doc wanted to add Trazadone to help me sleep … but I decided to just lower my Paxil dosage cos I was feeling pretty good. But if I wasn’t feeling good I would have considered the Trazadone as it is supposed to be very good for sleep and it is an anti-depressant as well. I don’t know anything about Serzone but have you been on it long enough for it to build up in your body? — Monkey http://pages.hotbot.com/health/sillychickens/ mon…@gilligansisland.net (to email me axe ‘gilligans’) —

I would like to know what kind of meds those of you who have both OCD and some sort of sleep disorder are taking. I am trying to figure out what my future holds for me considering my OCD, Diabetes, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Insomnia due to depresision caused by the Diabetes and Apnea.   Right now I am on 150 mg twice daily of Serzone after being on Paxil for a year and a half.  I’m a little spacy and I notice I am slipping back into some bad obssesive habits (checking the lights.) I’m having some success with behavior modification by leavig certain "problem" appliances plugged in while I am at work.  I need to slow my mind down but, it seems I’m loosing the progess I made on Paxil. I hated Paxil cause of mood swings. Jim Cox * Antispam Warning:  Replace "web" in my email address * *                    with "a51" to reply via email.    *
