Sullivan5 Elite- Need info SOON

Question:

I’m about to get a new CPAP. The one I’ve been using for 6 years is growling and roaring- not a good sign. Since I’m off to Switzerland, I decided to get the Sullivan 5 Elite which automatically self-adjusts to different voltages and different altitudes- or so they claim. Anyone with any info about how well it really works? How big is it to travel with? How noisy? Any other info? Thanks folks- Susan —                                              polit…@netcom.com

Response:

I had a Sullivan 5 Elite for a few months (Long story-  it got traded in for a Tranquility Quest Plus 7400, but not because I was unhappy with it). It was a tad noisier than the Tranquility, but overall it seemed to be a good machine. I did some travelling with it, and it seemed to adjust just fine. I was told to expect a 1cm pressure increase for every 3000 feet in altitude change. I don’t know about the automatic voltage change, though (are you sure you don’t flip a switch for this??)  It was reasonably easy to travel with; just a little bigger than my Tranquility. Overall, I was pleased with the machine. T Sconyers – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Wachob wrote: > I’m about to get a new CPAP. What is cpap??

Response:

Constant Positive Airway Pressure … Helps keep the airway open to allow you to breathe.  See  http://www.cpapman.com/disorder.htm  for a discussion of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and how a CPAP unit helps.
