what may this be?
Question:
hello, I am a 20 yr old male and for the last id say 10 months i have been having problems sleeping through the night. I go to bed on average around 10pm.. usually I start waking up between 1 and 2. I wake up and look at the clock, then I go back to sleep, then I wake up again and look at the clock and like 10 minutes have passed. Basically for the remainder of my sleep after the first few hrs are extremely light and in small increments. The only time I ever sleep really solid is if Im completely drunk. I get out of bed at 5:15 every morning and rarely need an alarm clock, no matter what time I go to bed. I find myself tired when I get home from work, oftern leading me to take naps. My sleep pattern is unchanged whether or not I take a nap in the afternoon. I do have alot of reoccurring dreams and dont know if this is a contributor. any thoughts would be appreciated.. Mike

Hi Mike, Try this web page for links. http://www.btinternet.com/~kemp.paul/mongo.html What you post sounds a lot like me with sleep apnea, but just that one symptom could also be other things, such as Periodic Limb movement disorder (PLMD) or Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). Read over some of the information in the links from the web site and see if any of the other symptoms apply to you, and i would also suggest talking to your primary doctor about getting a referral to a certified sleep specialist (usually these are also Pulmonologist, Neurologists or Ear-Nose-Throat Docs as well). The recurring dreams (perhaps of drowning or choking?) may be a symptom of Sleep apnea, too. — Magesteff - "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources."-Albert Einstein ——————————————————– Pursuant to US Code, Title 47, Chapter 5, Subchapter II,
