Life Without BiPAP

Question:

Sorry to say BUT once you are a Hoover-head (love that nickname) you are one for life.  I made that same mistake last year and it took almost 12 months of in and out hospital stays to fix me up.

Response:

Mostly red tape.  The DME provider needs get an authorization to send my machine back to the manufacturer.  The manufacturer needs to send the loaner the DME provider so he can set the machine and the DME provider sends the machine on to me.  There was a weekend involved in all this and little SNAFU between the DME provider and the manufacturer before they got the machine sent out. Last night was my first night back on the machine and I a 100% better this morning even though I went to bed late.  Good to be back on treatment! I posted a week or so ago about making a bonehead mistake while filling my humidifier and getting water into my BiPap machine. I kind of trashed the machine so I had to send it back to ResMed to get it fixed and in the process of getting a loaner. This is my  6th day without using my machine and I feel horrible.  The acclamation process might be gradual but going off the machine cold turkey the impact is almost immediate.  I’m exhausted, can’t think straight and generally feel just shitty (sorry but that seems the best word to describe how I feel).  My wife sleeps in another room because I have been rattling the windows with my snoring. I have to say I hate the mask but compared to how I feel right now, it’s a minor inconvenience.  I’m posting this for those of you who are questioning if  it’s worth the hassle or not.  I can only speak for me, but you bet it’s worth it.  Life with out my BiPap sucks. Eric
