Sleep disorders
Question:
Hi everyone, I’m new to this Internet and I’m having fun exploring. I work in a Sleep Disorders Centre (I’m an R.N.) so it is very interesting to read what others have to say about their diagnoses, treatment etc. etc. Sleep disorders can link up with so many other illnesses it’s hard to understand why it is still treated with distrust by some practitioners. Maybe it’s because the treatment is non-invasive and perhaps a little too ’simple’ to be believed? I’d be interested to hear what others have to say and what they may have experienced in a somewhat still doubtful medical fraternity. Regards, Chris. chris…@mpx.com.au

Chris, You MUST be joking, surely? It depends on the sleep disorder about which you speak but if you are talking about Sleep Apnea, then the "treatment" being put about – and I use the term "treatments" quite loosely – the majority are VERY invasive, one is moderately invasive and two are non-invasive. Of the two, CPAP is the one which is proven to work for most people and a good option. As to not trusting Sleep Doctors, I have a very good one and was damned lucky to find him first off. I HAVE been to 2 others, though and both of them were damned fools. One even thought *I* was amazing for showing HIM that I have, as do a lot of sleep apnea sufferers, Angina though our arteries arent blocked. he couldnt see how I could without blocked arteries until I explained to him something he should already know – that I still have lack of oxygen to the heart the same as Angina sufferers do who get it through artery blockage. Many people in USA are having "laser jockeys" tell them they should have LASER surgery or cut out the fat bits in the throat when a small amount of thought on the part of the doctors would make them realise that the skin DOES grow back within a few years and you will end up worse off or as bad as before and THEN only if it DOES work which it doesnt for the greater majority of people. Sure, we distrust but we have damned good reason to do so. GOOD sleep doctors are almost as hard to find as rocking horse shit! ———————————————————————— |Sysop of Amiga’s Sci-Fi BBS gr…@hartingdale.com.au Chow Chow lover! | |Sydney, Australia. | | | |Founding and lifetime member: CHOW ADDICTION SOCIETY.
