I’m new to the group, and I’m from Wash. DC. My girlfriend says my snoring is so bad she can’t sleep with me anymore. I need help bad!!! Where in the DC area can I get some help ( if I can be helped). jnorman.erols.com

Hi, JNorman, You need to talk with a certified sleep disorders specialist, which you can find by looking up the Sleepnet or The Sleep Well web sites, finding the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA), and then going to their national listing of accredited sleep disorders centers. There are several in the DC area. You and your girlfriend will be glad you did this, because loud snoring is the most common symptom of sleep apnea, a treatable sleep disorder that (if NOT) treated, has serious long-term cardiovascular consequences (high blood pressure, heartbeat irregularities, increased risk of stroke, heart attack, heart failure….) Also, your semi-joking connection between snoring with "no sex" may have more truth to it than you realize. One of the consequences of untreated sleep apnea that some men experience is impotence. Effective treatment reportedly solves the problem (so I’ve been told). If you would like to read a book about sleep apnea, causes, treatment, etc., feel free to e-mail me for information.
