From what I’ve been told, the changes are minor. The forehead rest is a slightly different shape, so as to allow it the mask to hold to a person’s face more easily. Apparently some people had trouble with the mask coming away from their faces at the top despite the forehead rest. The foam inserts are a different colour (and maybe a different material – I"m not sure). If you have a choice, a II is probably slightly better. I don’t have one. Thinking of perhaps getting one. There is a place online closing out the Aclaim I for $83, and when they get in the Aclaim II, it will cost $95. (I’ve seen a few online places with the latter price.) If the II is really better, it’s worth $12 more. If the change is only cosmetic and a new name, might as well save $12. I’ll see if i can remember them all – new headgear has wider and longer straps – new foam insert piece is made from slightly different material and is grey instead of white and doesn’t deteriorate in the sun like the old white one does – mask has small writing on to identify what it is (ie, fisher & paykel aclaim II) – glider now has quick release on both sides, not just one (to cater better for left-handers) – forhead rest is position lockable – instead of just having 2 diffuser pads included it has 4 I think that’s all the things the F&P person told me but i may have forgotten something — Beth in Australia =================== FAQ for alt.support.sleep-disorder can be found here http://www.anchorweb.com.au/sleepdisorders this site is a work in progress – feel free to submit info/articles
