Question:
Please post for others’ benefit. writes: There is some glue at the shop we use for Lexan. I’ll get the name/mfg/info on Monday and post/mail it that night, if someone else doesn’t first, and maybe even then.

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – | Not exactly a home repair question, but if there is an answer I think | it can be found here. | | I have a medical device, a part of which is a flexible U-shaped | channel made of polycarbonate (the stuff Lexan is made of). I | accidently cracked it and need to glue it back together. I broke half | of the channel across into the center seam and the seam also came | apart. It is not completely broken into two pieces, but it is hanging | from only half its width. The break itself is clean, and the seam is | just parted, not broken. | | Any suggestions as to what glue to use? It’s not worth looking for | exotic industrial adhesives and glues that only come in 55 gallon | drums. I need something you might buy at a hardware store, say. | | It would need to be very strong. A certain amount of flex would not be | a problem, but silicone would be too flexible, for example. | | Any advice appreciated.
Just to follow up here, I’ve located a superglue called "Poly ZAP" that sounds like it might work. It’s used by model builders and is available at hobby stores. It is specifically for hard, space-age plastics, including polycarbonate. I’ll see if I can find some and try it and post it here. $5.95 a 1/2 oz. — so not for big jobs!
