Ho Hum
Question:
They gave me a list of questions about what I normally did ie time I normally when to sleep and normally woke up how many times I got up to go to the toilet in the night. Then on the day of sleep study I had to travel 2 hrs on a flight to sleep centre and got up early at 5 am they suggested i got up early on day of study then they told me no caffine for the day and they waited till 11pm before they started connecting the wires which took about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour. I hit the pillow and next thing I remember I woke up standing up and had pulled all the wires out, this was after 2 hours which I had explained to them, it happened just about every night normally, they connected me back up after I went to the toilet and I lasted another 2 hours then I woke and this was enough for them for the sleep study results. Before CPAP I did not need an alarm clock because I only lasted 2 hours before usually woking up standing up beside my bed or sitting up in bed. Did you do the overnight oximeter test(sorry can not spell it, it is a test at home to measure blood oxygen levels during the night ) before you spent the night in the sleep centre. Hope you can get back to a sleep centre especially if you have a sleep disorder, I believe mine has saved me life as mine was a severe case of sleep apnea which was life treating, and quality of like has dramaticly improved since CPAP.. Here it is 2:20 am EST and I just got back form yet another failed sleep test. I will not go back for another. It was another total freak out. I was a little but closer to sleeping than I was last time, but I’m not sure what happened that I never got there. My head and back hurt from the wires. I itched yet again. There has to be a better way. My problem isn’t so much getting to sleep, but staying that way. When I wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep, it is difficult for me to get back to sleep. I gave tried sleeping every which way, with 1 pillow, 3 pillows, no pillows, hot tea, warm milk, sleeping pills, relaxation techniques, on my back, stomach, side, with knees up, down and sideways, with music, no music, ear plugs, valerian, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera… — Sheila "Top of the world, Ma!"
