My wife uses earplugs which she got used to before I got a CPAP machine. Try a different mask. > I have thought about doing the surgery. I understand the success rate for surgery is low. I was offered surgery long before I had heard of CPAP and very glad I declined. > (Machine people push the machine).  What I am looking for is unbiased > information, if there is any.

Which doesn’t mean machine people are bad just focussed. Martin Dreamin on zzzzz

look in to the Fisher & Paykel Aclaim mask, it has an outlet diffuser that muffles the noise and also the stream of air isn’t as obviuos meanign it doesn’t get breezy on your partner. Pulling the mask off is a common problem that will resolve itself in time. If you machine has a "mask off" alarm, use it to train yourslef to put the mask right back on if you take it off in the middel of the night. you’ll end up back on the machine there is a VERY LOW success rate to the surgery good luck….. set the mask off alert on so that you don’t suffer from "the levitating mask" syndrome we all go thru to get used to CPAP kate – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -"Aaron" <> wrote in message .com… > I am 34, I am told that I have moderate apnea and my pressure is at 11 > on my cpap machine, my situation is that my wife can’t sleep with the > slight noise from the mask not only that, I keep pulling the mask off > and turning the machine off in the middle of the night which doesn’t > do me any good (I don’t ever remember taking it off, I just wake up > with the machine off and the mask in my hand.   Been happening for a > month now, the whole time I have had it) she wants me to go and get > surgery, > I have thought about doing the surgery. I am 34, I am told that I have moderate apnea and my pressure is at 11 on my cpap machine, my situation is that my wife can’t sleep with the slight noise from the mask not only that, I keep pulling the mask off and turning the machine off in the middle of the night which doesn’t do me any good (I don’t ever remember taking it off, I just wake up with the machine off and the mask in my hand.   Been happening for a month now, the whole time I have had it) she wants me to go and get surgery, I have thought about doing the surgery. Since I am having such a problem with the mask: Question- where can I find out about all the different surgery’s for sleep apnea, success rates and any good information.  I work in a hospital and the ENT doc’s I know tell me that surgery. is 100% effective(surgeons push surgery)the sleep tech’s and medical supply people tell me that surgery is only about 50% effective and after a few years, I will be hooked back to the machine. (Machine people push the machine).  What I am looking for is unbiased information, if there is any.
