Hi Gav, I have just had an overnight stay in the Sleep Clinic in Edinburgh. I was unable to get to sleep for the first part of the test so they were not able to try me on a CPAP machine
So, I will now have to wait for approx three months for a technician to score my results then they will be in contact again. I have been lurking in this group for a couple of years while I have waited to get to the sleep clinic. How long did you have to wait ? There seem to be a few folk from Scotland in here so I thought I would jump in as well. Look after yourself. — Steve McCrea

Hi Steve Welcome to the group. I also hail from Scotland (Central) & am awaiting results for a home study (I was told 2 – 3 wks for them to filter through). Sorry to hear that your first night at the Royal wasn’t a complete success. from what I can gather from reading other posts this isn’t uncommon. It must have been frustrating having waited 2 years to get the test in the first place. Better luck for your next visit at least you are now in the system and appointments should be quicker. — Frankie -> -> -> (Remove MYSPLEEN to reply ) "Steve McCrea" <st…@musselburgh.demon.co.uk> wrote in message

Hi All , I have been a lurker on this NG on and off for a few months (ever since I had my first Sleep Study) I finally got my CPAP machine this week – AutoSet T with Mirage full face mask …. I am in the process of getting used to this , with one problem … I am getting a persistant ichy nose … any tips You People are Great…. I have learned so much from this NG Gav PoshPaws

Does the nose itch on the outside or the inside? If on the outside, where? What pressure does the AutoSet T typically deliver (different question than what are its set limits)? If you do not know this, what pressure was found effective for you in your sleep study? Do you have humidification? If so, what kind? If you can give some (more is better) of the above info, you have a good chance of getting helpful answers from this group. BTW, 1) Congratulations on AutoSet. It is a wonderful machine. 2) Why the weird FFM? Did your study find nasal masks and nasal pillows contraindicated? regards, eric pearson db2e…@nospammindspring.com – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -On Thu, 20 Feb 2003 0:41:38 +0000, Poshpaws <r…@127.0.0.1> wrote: >Hi All , I have been a lurker on this NG on and off for a few months (ever >since I had my first Sleep Study) >I finally got my CPAP machine this week – AutoSet T with Mirage full face >mask …. Posh, I use nasal pillows, not a mask. I sometimes get an itch around my nostrils when the head gear is too tight. It literally folds my nose back and it itches along the fold. The solution to that problem is to loosen it all a little. But if it is the inside of your nose that itches, like dry crustiness inside your nose, then it may be the old humidifier issue. Anna

You could do what I do with my FFM. Lft it and scratch your nose; however, it is a pain in the butt. You could also try one of the many OTC anti-itch ointments/cremes. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> You People are Great…. I have learned so much from this NG > Gav > PoshPaws

Gav….. try raising your machine another couple of feet higher where it will get warmer air. Or, raise the room temperature a bit if possible.
