Nightmares

Question:

Has he considered knocking off the speed?   Charlie Zammit <czam…@nsw.bigpond.net.au> wrote in message news:7uhoca$bfs$1@m2.c2.telstra-mm.net.au…   I have a friend of mine who I think needs some help. He is 26 years old,   does a little speed and has a semi stressful job. He frequently has these   dreams where he feels someone is touching him. He thinks he wakes up but the   sensation doesn’t stop, but when he looks around there is no one there. Then   the moment he looks away again it he starts to feel someone touching him   again. He says it feels so real that he doesn’t know whether he is dreaming   or not and it frightens the hell out of him. It has been going on for about   three months. Does anyone have any suggestions, or has anyone heard of this   type of thing happening before??

I have experienced something similar with sleep paralysis.  I would feel like someone was touching me, but couldn’t move, and no one was there.  I finally realized (through a lucid dreaming experience) that during these episodes I was actually asleep and dreaming.  I do think your friend should quit doing speed.  Drugs, OTC, prescription, or otherwise can cause some frightening sleep patterns. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

I don’t have this but it is a textbook description of the kind of experiences people have who have episodes sleep paralysis. Some describe feeling the presence of (imaginary) people in the room with them, some describe the people as "malign" or "threatening," and some feel that a person is sitting on their chests. There are a number of sites on the web about sleep paralysis. Do a search for it. My brother and my nephew both have had sleep paralysis episodes. I have no idea if there is a connection, but in the distant past both were heavy abusers of methamphetimines.
